Have you always been into fitness?
Always been very fanatical about fitness!!
Background in sport is from swimming and gymnastics!
Worked within secondary school teaching P.E and sports development so passionate about sport. Spent a year coaching and mentoring children in USA before becoming a full time athlete! Starting running marathons in 2004 first one in New York. I’m the leg amputee world record holder at full and half marathons! (1.14.59 Reading and 2.42.38 Chicago).
2010 started sprinting on the track!
Best swimming achievement so far?
I’m double world champion
European and Paralympic champion and world record holder for the 200m
What are you ambitions for 2015 and beyond?
2015 have the world championships in Doha and then Rio in 2016 so a busy couple of years! Maybe after that I might have another crack at my marathon record!
Who are your sporting / non sporting role models?
Sporting at Terry Fox a single leg amputee that tried to run across Canada!!(inspiring story)inspired me to run 40 marathon in 40 days in 2013.
Non sporting is my parents and their support at the beginning of my journey and how they built a solid foundation for me to be successful!
Tell us something that most people don’t know about you?
Spurs fan love fast cars!have 2 young children Zarah 2 and Andrew 8 weeks old. Receiving my gold medal at london 2012 was friggin awesome 80000 people singing the national anthem with me on the podium was magical!!
Can you describe the feeling when you received your gold medals?
It’s really hard to describe, I am so happy, very proud when representing GB, sometimes surprised but also exhausted as I will of just raced my butt off to earn it!
What are you top three sport nutrition tips?
- Stay hydrated throughout the day
- Protein straight after workout

What are your top three training tips?
- Warming up is very important be specific with this.
- Train in a group or with someone of same ability/mindset
- Train with a smile on your face even when your being sick on the track like me!!
Why do you use Beet It and how has it helped you?
I use Beet it to support my success on the track/road provides me with the building blocks to success.
How important to you is it that it is all natural?
Natural products are important to me and my family want to reflect this to my children. We have just made a small allotment at the back of the garden so the children can see their food grow and learn about why this is important!!
