Do you have a nickname other than Phoebe?
Not really, I’ve been lucky on that front!
How did you get involved with hockey?
I was late getting into hockey my first sport was football, mainly because I have two older brothers! I first joined a hockey club at 14 which was my local hockey club Knighton, Powys who played on grass.
Growing up, who was your all-time inspirational sports person?
Serena Williams, she’s an amazing role model as an athlete and as a woman. To be at the top of any sport for such a long time takes a special person with the right attitude and desire.
What advice would you give to a young, aspiring hockey player?
You always need to make sure you enjoy what you do! At times it may feel like the only thing that matters in the world is hockey but keep it rounded and enjoy the experience, the challenge and developing as a person as well as a hockey player.
Which international and club hockey teams do you most look forward to playing and why?
I try to focus and enjoy every game I play but playing against international teams has its own special excitement because each nation has it’s own personal style of play which offers the opportunity to observe, learn and take away new ideas.
Best hockey achievement so far?
My selection for the 2014 Commonwealth games in Glasgow.
Aspirations in hockey for 2017 and beyond?
We have a home Europeans in Cardiff this summer so to medal in that would be extra special and then the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth games next April.
Tell us something that most people don’t know about you?
I work as a Human Factors Ergonomist at Aston Martin.
What is your number one sport nutrition tip?
Stay hydrated, people underestimate the importance of hydration.
