    I have a BSc in Physiotherapy and ever since I graduated from University I have specialized in Sport Science undergoing a PG Diploma in Exercise Physiology and recently a MS in Sport Science for which I developed my research on the effects of beetroot juice supplementation on fatigue-induced decline in football performance.

    I´ve always strived to develop a broad curriculum and tried, to the best of my abilities, to keep updated about different areas such as training, nutrition, and these last months about sports analytics. I have been working for the last couple of years as an independent Sport Scientist supporting athletes on their nutrition and training, I have also worked as consultant with different organizations such as the English Street Football Association and most recently a Sports Tech company as their local partner in Chile.


    Have you always been into sport/fitness?

    Yes, most definitely, either as an athlete or on the professional/academic side, always linked to sport and physical activity.

    How did you get involved with Sports Science?

    I have always had a big interest in trying to understand the underlying bases for performance, whether this is in sport, on the academic side or in everyday life. I find it fascinating the spectrum of mechanisms that a person has in order to overcome obstacles and develop resilience. I have also always been a very athletic person and in my youth I enrolled in different sports. This is how I got into studying my BSc in Physiotherapy and my Postgraduate courses in Sport Sciences.


    Most interesting or sport related career achievement so far / career highlight?

    The most remembered events I have been involved with have been when I worked with the Chilean U17 Football Amateur Team towards a South American tournament achieving the first place, working with the English Street Football Association towards the World Cup in Amsterdam in 2015 and most lately having worked with a Sports Tech company as a consultant Sport Scientist supporting a professional football club for the second division finals.


    What are your ambitions for 2016 and beyond?

    This 2016 I am relocating to the UK and I am planning on staying involved with my partner companies as well as exploring the possibility of enrolling into a PhD or MPhil.

    Who are your sporting & non sporting role models and why?

    I have always been an insanely passionate fan of Muhammad Ali´s life, probably because there are endless life lessons you can learn from how he approached his sporting life as well as outside boxing.
    A non-sporting role model (not considering family members) I think it would probably be Sir Ken Robinson, for how he has dedicated his life to communicate the need for a new way of understanding education in the world.

    What are you most passionate about in your career?

    Making meaningful change, even if that is using the most basic resource or the most sophisticated approach, the possibility of making real impact over someone´s life by improving health, knowledge or a specific ability makes me motivated for new challenges.


    Tell us something that most people don’t know about you?

    If I was not a Sport Scientist, I would love to work in something related to International Relations and Diplomacy.

    What are you top three sport nutrition tips?

    1. Always try to have a nutritional system that is backed by real science.
    2. Don’t under appreciate the importance of protein intake.
    3. ALWAYS try your sport supplements during training first.

    What are your top three training tips?

    1. Periodize your training.
    2. Proper strength training is ALWAYS beneficial.
    3. Be patient and always respect physiological adaptation times and never under appreciate resting/recovering time.

    Why do you use Beet It and how has it helped you?

    For me it´s all about efficiency, if I had to summarise why Beet It Sport is beneficial for sports performance I would say that it will help you do the same work for less energy cost, or help you go harder for the same energy cost. Also I have seen very good results when it comes to decision making while under fatigue which I believe is going to be one of the most interesting aspects of future research on the subject.

    How important to you is it that it is natural?

    I tend not to use the concept of natural very often, but it is of great help when assuring clients that it has little to no side effects or doping danger. So in that regard it is beneficial for the athlete to understand the origin of the product.

    Have you tried the full range and if so which product do you use the most and why?

    Yes, and most definitely the shot is the most widely used.

    Why should athletes use it?

    Efficiency, health and safety
