    In April at the UK trials Matt became British Champion in the 50 Free breaking the S9 British Record and swimming inside the Rio qualification time in both the heats and finals. In May at the IPC Europeans in Madeira Matt was crowned European Champion in the S9 50 Free. Matt continues to use the beet it products on a daily basis.


    Have you always been into fitness?

    From about the age of 10 years.

    How did you get involved with Swimming?

    I broke my leg at age 9 and it was part of my rehabilitation.

    Best achievement so far?

    Paralympic champion S9 50 Free / European champion s9 50 free.

    What are your ambitions for the rest of 2016 and beyond?

    To start the next 4 year cycle in preparation for Tokyo.

    Tell us something that most people don’t know about you?

    I adopted/sponsored a Polar Bear. I love polar bears. I have polar bear bedding.

    Can you describe the feeling when you won a big match and/or made a great improvement/achievement in your sport?

    Shocked and overwhelmed!

    What are you top three sport nutrition tips?

    1. Nothing is neutral, everything adds or takes away value.
    2. Eat seven fruit and veg a day. The more colours the better.
    3. If you unsure if it’s bad, it is probably bad.

    What are your top three training tips?

    1. Don’t do more, do it better.
    2. Always be on time and be prepared.
    3. The little things matter.

    Why do you use Beet It and how has it helped you?

    I was introduced to beet it by a fellow para swimmer and I have used it ever since. I feel it gives me a edge over my competitors.

    How important to you is it that it is natural?

    I feel better that I am putting natural products into my body.
